Research Highlights Global Warming Trouble Brewing

Research is continually being done on global warming.  The research follows two common methods, firstly by being done by studying statistics, and second by going directly to the source.  Many scientists are deducing with varying answers to the most basic questions about global warming, but the majority are reporting Global Warming Trouble Brewing.

global-warming-troubleSome scientists studying global warming in the Arctic have discovered thinning sea ice close to the northwards reaches of Alaska. The summer of 2007 showed the least sea ice since sea ice was first tracked in 1979. Scientists collaborating in the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution's Gyre Exploration Project cruised on board the Canadian Coast Guard's ship, the Icebreaker, to see the consequences of global warming for themselves.

 

When they reached the area where ice would customarily be the thickest and heaviest, the ship sailed right thru. When they went and did see ice, it was in a condition of disintegration due to global warming. The majority of the ice remaining was younger ice, which is more exposed to unfreeze.

The scientists took their info home to research in the less warm months. Another group, with the Arctic Modeling Group and the IJIS Research Group, set sail along the Alaskan coast in the Chukchi Sea. Their mission was to study different variables of the sea water that might have an impact on phytoplankton. They revealed that the water was hotter than the satellite statistical data.

The satellite showed ten degrees Celsius, while their measurements showed fourteen degrees Celsius. This is an illustrative example of global warming. One study was done linking the Russian peat bogs with global warming. The bogs produce a giant quantity of methane gas.

According to carbon dating that was done, this has been the case since the last ice age. Since methane is among the CO2 emissions, this impacts global warming. Nonetheless the studies also show the peat bogs absorb CO2 at a formidable rate. They contain the biggest carbon stores in the world.

If the peat bogs dry up due to global warming, they might release this carbon-dioxide into the air. The trade-off of carbon-dioxide for methane wouldn't be a very good one, since methane stays in the atmosphere a shorter time.

Global warming trouble brewing from Hurricanes Says Scripps Establishment

Analysts at Scripps Establishment of Oceanography have been busy establishing that humans bear some culpability for the climate change in the seas. They have done this both by studying and noting proof, and by assembling PC models. The PC models are based mostly on the proof that they have got, so they are generally believed to be quite correct.

With all of the information prepared the proof appears to point to definite global warming events. It also makes it clear that humans have performed a part in causing this phenomenon. An MIT professor has studied the consequences of warming waters on hurricanes during the last 50 years. He studied stats from past hurricanes and generated PC models to check his speculation. His speciality is meteorology, so his viewpoint on global warming is of interest. He revealed that the hurricanes have indeed been getting stronger since 1970.

 

Research is crucial to the province of global warming studies and to understanding the limits to the global warming trouble brewing.
